Thanks to the efforts of the one and only rhohan, we have successfully restored 13thpanzerdivision.com from a backup made the day it went offline back in 07.

It's good to be back reading all these old posts. Feels like a time capsule we dug up or something. lol

Thanks again rhohan! 13pzdiv.gif

Summer Update Sneak Preview

Roswell, GA, 25th July 2007 - Tripwire is pleased to provide a sneak preview of one of our biggest updates yet for Red Orchestra: Ostfront 41-45, which contains a number of new features.

The first "BIG" announcement we have is a massive new map entitled - Krivoi Rog. This map is an all out long range tank slugfest featuring a playable area over 4 kilometers long by 4 kilometers wide and a viewable range of 3000 meters. Set on the plains of the southern Ukraine the level pits the heavily armored Tiger and early war Panzers against the speedy T34/76. The update also features a new tank variant - the Panzer IV G, as well as a new option to manually reload tank main guns, choosing the next round type first before reloading.

Next up we have added several new graphical enhancements to the game. The game now features an all new adaptive bloom system that aside from looking amazing also simulates the effect of the eye adjusting when looking at bright areas. For those of you that experienced a "blurry" effect with the old bloom system (especially at low resolution) you'll be happy to hear that the all new bloom effect is crystal clear even at low resolutions. And for even more eye candy, Anti-Aliasing and Anistropic Filtering settings are now configurable in-game. Many of the devs and testers have commented that with these new settings RO almost looks like a new game!

Finally, the next update will include many new server admin requested features as well as a string of bug fixes and community requested tweaks. As this is just a teaser we won't go into all of those just yet, but keep an eye on www.redorchestragame.com for more details coming soon. We will also be looking at opening up some beta testing for the community shortly, so keep a good look-out for news on that!

Carpathian Crosses Mega Update

It's been a while since our last update. You might have thought that we were not progressing, but the truth is quite the opposite. Our team hasn’t been stalling at all, and we are proud to announce that we have completed our Romanian player models. We have different variations available, ranging from summer weight uniforms to winter uniforms and tanker to mountain infantry. You might wonder how you’re going to distinguish these once you are deployed to the battlefield. The answer to that is the collar insignia and shoulder board insignia. Every variation will have different insignia to indicate rank and branch of service which is apparent in the screenshots below. We will also include plenty of headgear variations in order to accommodate various environmental settings in combat.

Since we are developing Carpathian Crosses for Red Orchestra: Ostfront, there has been a great deal of time spent on authenticating the field gear. As you can see, soldiers have the opportunity to wear glasses and they will all be wearing historically accurate ammunition pouches and holsters to match the weapon they are carrying. You can safely say that with the amount of variations possible, andrei313 and Polygon have given it their all.

You can find more detailed pictures of the Romanian soldiers here.

As you can see our Romanian tanker is ready for battle. You might wonder what enemies he will be facing, so let’s take a look at some early war Soviet armor. The T-26 was widely used in the early days on the Eastern Front, especially in the defense of Chisinau, where they played a significant role in trying to repel the invasion forces. Next to it, we see a BT-5 tank, a predecessor of the better known BT-7, which is also included in our modification. As you can see, our vehicle artist Sethodie did an excellent job of bringing these two to life for you to eventually experience in Carpathian Crosses.

If you can't get enough of tanks, check our other pictures.

Don't worry though, as an infantryman, you won't be totally defenseless against these tanks. To counter the tanks, you will find anti-tank grenades in Carpathian Crosses. When thrown correctly they can disable the tracks or even damage the tank. Since we're on the topic of weapons, we are also pleased to bring you the Romanian built Orita sub machine gun.

Naturally, all this stuff has to come to life somewhere, so let’s take a look at the battlefields. We would like to show you two of them at the moment. One is Nalchik, a city in the Caucasus Mountains that saw quite some action in World War 2. This battle takes place in the winter of 1942 and its located further East than any other battle in Carpathian Crosses. It is one of the bigger cities in its area and was to serve as a logical step to reach the vast oil fields in the east. The other battle we would like to show is the one for Usatovo, which is near the city of Odessa. It takes place in the small rural town of Usatovo, which was on the way during the Axis thrust towards the crucial sea port of Odessa.

Be sure to check the media page on our website to see all the screenshots that weren't shown in this update. There are around 30 new shots of all the items we talked about. However, we're not going to let you wait for another 2 months before we show you our work again. We are working on bringing you a media update just as big as this one in the near future; this one is just the beginning.

We would also like to stress that the face competition (get your face into the game) is still running. It doesn't matter if you have long hair, facial hair or glasses; everyone is more then welcome to enter. If you're wearing glasses however, you should take them off when you're taking the pictures. Haircuts or shaves will not be necessary, we can handle it.

Teamspeak New Ip

Our host is going through an ip address migration, away from ELI owned ips to their own ARIN assigned block. The new address is 74.220.202.162. Teamspeak wasn't working correctly as a result, but has been updated and is working now. If you see anything else that doesn't seem to be working, please email me.
